SUMMARY:
Our client in the hospitality industry requires a Junior Accountant to be based at their site in Ballito. The Junior Accountant will be responsible for the accurate processing of daily accounting transactions.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities

Capture daily sales, cash-ups, and point-of-sale reports
Reconcile daily cash, credit card, and Yoco/PayGate transactions against bank statements
Process supplier invoices, staff expense claims, and petty cash transactions
Allocate costs to correct cost centres
Prepare and post daily bank reconciliations
Monitor outstanding payments and assist with supplier queries.
Track deposits and ensure accurate allocation of member subscriptions
Assist in preparing weekly revenue and expense reports for management
Maintain accurate records for VAT inputs/outputs and assist in monthly VAT201 preparation.
Support month-end close by ensuring completeness of daily journals and reconciliations.
Liaise with operational managers to ensure correct financial records.
Support the Financial Manager with ad hoc tasks and internal audits.
Assist external auditors with supporting schedules and reconciliations.

Key Requirements:

Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
1–2 years’ experience in an accounting role (hospitality advantageous)
Knowledge of VAT and basic financial reporting principles
Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
Working knowledge of accounting software (Pastel Partner / Sage / CaseWare experience advantageous)
Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
Strong communication skills to liaise with operations and finance teams
Team player with a problem-solving mindset.
