Jnr Draughtsman

SUMMARY:
Our client, within the HVAC industry is looking for a Junior Draughtsman to join their team. The successful candidate should have experience in HVAC / bio containment or a similar environment.

POSITION INFO:

• Revise drawings and layouts to accommodate changes and enhancements
• Assist and coordinate with designers and engineers
• Maintain all Health and Safety requirements when on an installation site
• Ensure that all administration and reporting is kept up to date
• Attend departmental meetings as required
• Project planning:                        

• Read & understand drawings of Project

• Assist the Project manager with Bill of Materials and designs
• Assisting in the procurement process of a project as required by the Project Manager
• Liaise with other companies drafting personnel to understand each other’s work

• Drafting duties:

• Assist in building commissioning manuals
• Assist in doing quotations as required by Senior projects staff

• Share knowledge and train team members where necessary
• Manage Team Dress Code / work / time / behavior.  Notify Project Manager of any non-conformances and necessary disciplinary
• Ensure that all members are briefed and sustain Health and Safety on all sites
• Identify training required for team members to improve their and the team’s Skills level
• Motivate and be the spokesman for the team
• Train new staff and share project skills and information
• Become involved in the decision making as to reasonable time frames required to complete Projects
• Manage electronic information in an effective and clear manner to allow all project personnel to access and understand the relevance of the information

Educational Requirements:

• Matric
• Drafting Diploma or equivalent

Experience and Skills Required:

• 6 - 8 years industry specific experience within the HVAC/bio containment environment or similar
• Basic knowledge of filters, there functionality and cleaning thereof
• Good understanding of Lab and Mechanical Equipment
• Basic electrical knowledge
• Must be able to work on AutoCAD and Microsoft VISIO as a minimum
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Understanding of engineering drawing and principles
• Be able to visually communicate concepts, draw well and be very detailed
• Some experience and sound knowledge of project management principles and sheet metal works
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to come up with practical solution
• Extensive report-writing skills
• Understand the qualities of metals as well as other materials
• Valid driver’s license and passport
• Ability to travel if necessary
