Investment Research Analyst

Fantastic opportunity to join a respected and talented investment services team in Cape Town. This role is responsible for providing an analysis and research function. You'll be conducting research of investment products, asset managers and other providers in the investments space to support investment decisions. Role suits passionate young investment analyst who also ideally has a quantitative background and is FAIS compliant or working towards this.  

Responsibilities:

• Researching potential sources of new managers, collecting and collating asset manager information, assisting with shortlisting asset managers across asset classes.
• Assisting with analysis and research as needed in preparation of investment meetings
• Researching and identifying trends and areas of interest and present findings for consideration
• Assist with input to the investment decision making committee
• Assist with quantitative and qualitative portfolio analysis
• Detailed portfolio analysis
• Preparation and presentation of investment analytics in research meetings
• Looking for opportunities to enhance the teams research tools, processes etc. and ensuring operation compliance is met as required

Requirements

• Minimum of a commerce degree with majors in finance / accounting / economics or similar
• Minimum of 1 - 2 years' asset management industry experience
• Good base of technical investment knowledge, ideally with quantitative ability i.e. performance and risk calculations etc.
• Ideally FAIS compliant or working towards it
• Passionate about financial markets, with a good base of understanding of investment styles
• MSOffice proficient, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word
• A good team player with excellent communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Highly analytical and numerate
• Self-starter with a passion for research
