SUMMARY:
Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Internal Auditor

POSITION INFO:

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform financial and operational audits under the direction of the Internal Audit Manager and/or Council’s Audit & Risk Committee as per the audit plan from planning through to the testing writing of the draft report on findings

To identify and recommend improvements in internal controls and value addition opportunities

To participate in the discussion of the results of the testing and the recommendations raised with the process owners/managers

Participate in the writing of the draft audit report for process owners/managers as well as the audit committee

Participate in the follow-ups regarding recommendations with the process owners/managers

To develop a detailed understanding of the Council and the Business Process

To develop and maintain solid relationships with management and key employees

Special Ad-hoc Projects - e.g. Specialist on data extraction and analysis.

Obtain and maintain an understanding of systems and their impact on administrative and control processes. These include SAGE, Sales Logix, and VIP Applications.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills/Requirements

Demonstrable analytical and reasoning skills.

Ability to interpret complex processes, policies and financial and legal documents.

Ability to identify risk within complex processes.

Excellent knowledge and exposure of applicable legislation in the field of fraud prevention.

Good understanding of fraud, corruption risks and effective risk assessment and management techniques

Knowledge of modern principles, prevention/audit tools, techniques, methodologies and approaches used in fraud prevention.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Proven technical report writing skills.

Strong presentation skills.

Ability to multi-task.

Good analytical skills with high attention to details and accuracy.

Ability to grasp the underlying concepts in complex information.

Good decision making skills.

Good aptitude for learning analytical, audit and/or facilitation skills.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.

Demonstrate knowledge of accounting, auditing, forensic investigations, ethics, risk management and compliance

Qualifications

A relevant three year B Comm degree or equivalent majoring in Internal Auditing

Four (4) years internal auditing experience which includes the following

Experience in auditing within pension funds/ financial services environment will be an advantage.

Studying towards a Certification as a Certified Internal Audit and/or Certified Fraud Examiner will be an advantage.
