POSITION INFO:

South Africa''s leading diversified real estate investment trusts, owning and managing a portfolio of revenue generating retail, office and industrial assets in South Africa and internationally is looking for an Internal Auditor.

The Internal Audit function operates with the full internal audit cycle with objectivity and integrity in a systematic and disciplined approach in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control environment. This includes an assessment of the risks and controls, as well as an assessment of the efficiency and compliance of processes and systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Provide a service in accordance with the Internal Audit Charter.
• Assist in facilitating, evaluating and documenting the organisation’s risk and control assessment.
• Assist in documenting and executing the risk-focused audit coverage plan and ad-hoc management requests.
• Gaining understanding of the functions to be audited as per the audit coverage plan by developing system descriptions with management as well as walkthroughs.
• Assist in facilitating, evaluating and documenting systems risks and controls.
• Assist in facilitating and documenting the control adequacy assessment.
• Prepare the audit program which will be used in testing the effectiveness of controls within the system.
• Prepare audit working papers and to perform the control effectiveness testing in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors professional standards.
• Assist in reporting significant and insignificant findings and make recommendations to Management and the Audit Committee in improving the organisation’s processes.
• Perform follow up audits on actions taken by Management to improve the organisation’s processes.
• Tracking of unresolved findings and following up with Management on the resolution
• Where required, supervision of audit engagement teams and ensuring that engagements are completed according to predefined audit schedules and timelines.

EDUCATION

• B. Com Honours in Internal Auditing and CIA (essential)
• CISA and IT Audit experience would be an advantage
• 3 year degree/diploma Internal Audit (essential)
• Must be registered with the IIA

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• 3 to 4 years Risk Management/ Internal Audit experience (essential)
• Experience in performing all stages of an audit engagement (essential)
• Experience in financial services would be an advantage
• Property Management experience would be an advantage
