Internal Auditor

My client is currently looking for an Internal Auditor. This position will report to the Central Internal Audit Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient internal audit service to all operations within the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop excellent working relationships with all Internal Audit’s key stakeholders to facilitate open and honest communication as a trusted business partner

• Perform audit fieldwork per the approved audit plan
• Assist in the evaluation of existing control systems to ascertain whether these are adequate and operating as intended.
• Perform audit assignments with adherence to the requirements of company policies, procedures and the ABF Internal Audit guidelines, including the preparation of a draft audit report on the results of internal audit work performed and updating of ARC software for all audit work performed.
• Evaluating existing control systems to ascertain whether these are in compliance with the Financial Control Framework (FCF) and relevant company policies / procedures
• Assist in evaluating if entities are performing their control functions of planning, accounting, custodial and monitoring to the degree expected by management.
• Assist in highlight areas of non-compliance to management and recommending cost effective enhancements to systems and procedures.
• Prepare a draft report on the results of internal audit work performed.
• Assisting in performing follow ups with management and monitoring outstanding audit logs to ensure that management actions are implemented in a timely manner.
• Assist in the administration and use of data analytic software for all operations
• Update ARC software for all audit work performed.
• Preparation of audit logs, quarterly reports and audit committee papers
• Assist in perform consulting services as required (including special investigations)
• Assist in evaluating if entities are complying with statutory requirements and company policies.
• Ensure that audits are conducted in accordance with the IIA standards and in a professional manner.

Specifications/Requirements:

• A relevant commercial academic qualification (B.Comm Degree in Internal Auditing or similar)
• CISA/CIA qualified or completed articles, preferably with a large auditing firm, or significant progress to such qualifications
• IIA Membership
• 3-5 years’ experience in Internal Audit
• Strong interpersonal, communications and people skills
• Proven track record in effective business partnering and modernised IA methods
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with sound report writing experience
• Proven audit experience in a manufacturing and/or commercial operating environment will be beneficial (FMCG preferred)
• Strong service delivery ethic, with proven action orientation and timely adherence to delivering high quality, accurate work under pressure
• Conscientious, with the ability to work effectively as a team player and contribute positively to a team environment, and an ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Adept at assessing financial/ operational/ compliance processes, identifying risks and helping the business to identify remedial action
• Strong analytical skills, intuitive with the ability to anticipate, interpret and unravel complex issues impacting on functional area
• A self-starter with proven problem solving skills, solutions-focused and continuous improvement mind-set
• High level of proficiency in MS Office programmes
• Willingness to travel frequently to outside of South Africa
