POSITION INFO:

Intermediate Linux Engineer opportunity available in Midrand within the insurance space. Coming from the containers environments is an absolute must.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain Linux RHEL and Ubuntu Servers as well as Container Environments.
• Monitor performance and capacity alarms on Solarwinds and make necessary improvements to resolve
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance related problems
• Perform monthly patch maintenance on testing and production systems.
• Engage with Virtualization Engineer to ensure backups are in place for critical virtualized business systems.
• Engage with Backup Engineers to ensure backups are in place for critical business systems.
• Assist with Disaster Recovery plans and tests for systems.
• Assist with increasing, adding or removing SAN storage on Servers with LVM and Veritas Infoscale
• Assist with installation and configuration of Server hardware and operating systems
• Manage and maintain relationships with 3^rd Party Hardware vendors.
• Logs calls with 3^rd party vendors and make sure calls are responded on timeously.
• Assist with capacity planning across physical and virtual servers.
• Thorough understanding of a Multipath high availability storage configuration
• Be part of a IT infrastructure team and perform weekly standby and afterhours support.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High School Diploma
• RHCSA or LPIC2
• Server Hardware training or qualifications would be beneficial
• 2 years + Experience with Container Environments. (Could be Docker Swarm, Podman, Openshift, Kubernetes etc.)
• 5 years + Experience with Linux Servers (RHEL, Ubuntu) administration and troubleshooting
• Ability to perform capacity and resource planning, assess risks and recommend, design and implement RHEL server environments
• 5 years + experience in maintaining SAN Storage on Linux Servers
• 5 years + experience of Server Hardware installation and configuration, Fujitsu Primergy knowledge would be advantageous
• 2 years + experience in clustering technologies and concepts for high availability load balancing eg. (Haproxy, Keepalived, RHEL HA Cluster etc. )
• Thorough understanding of a Multipath high availability storage configurations
• Entry level networking knowledge, understand the concepts, LAN, WAN, VLANs etc.
• Ability to adapt and learn new skills as they become part the environment.
• RHEL Satellite administration and maintenance would be advantageous
• Ansible Tower administration and creation of playbooks would be advantageous
