Job Description
We seek four Integration Engineers with specialised expertise in IBM B2Bi to join a leading financial institution on a contract basis. The successful candidates will be responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and optimising integration solutions that enable seamless communication between internal systems and external partners. This role demands a methodical approach to problem solving, strong technical proficiency, and the ability to work under pressure within a dynamic and regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement integration solutions using IBM B2Bi to support business requirements and enhance existing processes.
- Configure and maintain integration workflows, maps, and agreements to facilitate secure and reliable data exchange.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and technical teams to understand integration needs and translate them into technical specifications.
- Monitor and manage integration environments, ensuring high availability and performance of IBM B2Bi components.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve integration issues promptly, minimising disruption to business operations.
- Conduct testing of integration solutions including unit, system and user acceptance testing to ensure functionality and compliance with requirements.
- Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation for integration processes, configurations and support procedures.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practises related to integration and IBM B2Bi.
- Adhere to organisational policies, security standards and regulatory requirements throughout all integration activities.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience working with IBM B2Bi or equivalent B2B integration platforms in a live environment.
- Strong understanding of electronic data interchange (EDI), data formats such as XML, JSON, and protocols including AS2, FTP, SFTP, and HTTP/S.
- Proficiency in integration design patterns, mapping techniques and error handling strategies.
- Experience in configuring and managing IBM B2Bi components such as Business Process Manager, Sterling File Gateway or related modules.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.
- Good communication skills to facilitate clear interaction with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Education
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of three years’ practical experience in integration engineering, specifically with IBM B2Bi or similar platforms.
- Experience within the banking or finance sector is highly advantageous due to regulatory and security considerations.
Knowledge and Skills
- Thorough understanding of integration frameworks, middleware technologies and messaging systems.
- Knowledge of security protocols and compliance standards relevant to data exchange in financial services.
- Familiarity with scripting languages and automation tools to support integration workflows.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate documentation and audit trails.
- Ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications related to IBM B2Bi or IBM Sterling integration products.
- Experience with cloud-based integration platforms and hybrid integration scenarios.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile project teams.
Working Conditions
- This position is based in Johannesburg with the expectation to work full-time hours on a contract basis.
