SUMMARY:
Instrumentation Technician - Boskop -
POSITION INFO:
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To perform instrumentation activities, software programming and maintenance of plants.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
vCarry out plant statutory, preventative and breakdown maintenance.
vProgramming of software to integrate all electrical and pneumatic equipment to operate the facility within the required safety and process conditions (e.g. Siemens).
vCalibrating instrumentation control components.
vCompiling material and equipment list for installation.
vAnalyse and interpret electrical/instrumentation drawings.
vHandling of spares, material and components.
vAssist with panel building, wiring, piping and cabling of equipment.
vAssist with panel and cable marking.
vAssist with equipment earthing.
vAssist with instrumentation design and review activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
vMinimum National Diploma Electrical Engineering or N3 with trade test certificate or equivalent NQF level.
v3 years’ experience in a plant manufacturing environment.
vAttention to detail, communication, planning and administrative skills.
vSiemens S7 Programming (TIA Portal: Step 7 and WinCC).
vCitect Scada and HMI knowledge and experience.
vVariable Speed Drives Programming.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
vAn in-depth understanding and working knowledge of control and instrumentation activities and drawings.
vExperience in implementation of instrumentation projects and software programming.
vGood planning, integration and resources management skills.
vInterpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with multiple disciplines both internally and externally.
vExcellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations and report writing.
vComputer literacy: MS Word, Excel, Power Point-proficient level (minimum).
