SUMMARY:
Our client specialising in a range of condition monitoring techniques, which includes the scientific
analysis of used oil and other fluids from mechanical and electrical systems is currently looking for an Instrument Technician to join their exciting team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position: Instrument Technician

Location: Durban, KZN

Reports To: Laboratories Manager

Role Summary:

The Instrument Technician  will be required to ensure that all laboratory instruments and auxiliary equipment are serviced and maintained through laboratory visits and remote support. To ensure that instrument downtime is kept at an absolute minimum. To automate current laboratory processes
through the design and build of auxiliary equipment or instruments.

Minimum Educational and Skills Requirement:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Process Instrumentation or related field.
  • Minimum Experience: 4 year working on lab instruments and/or automation

Duties:
  • Travel to the laboratories nationally and internationally to conduct annual maintenance and breakdown maintenance of laboratory instruments.
  • Provide remote support for the troubleshooting of instrument faults.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments.
  • Use diagnostic programs for the troubleshooting of instruments.
  • Ordering of instrument spares for laboratories, as and when required.
  • Ensure critical spares are kept in stock.
  • Repair of laboratory instruments, which will include PC board troubleshooting, repairs at component level and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs.

  • After hour call outs, weekends, public holidays, local and international travel
