Instrument Technician

SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and supervision of the day-to-day maintenance and repair of control & instrumentation equipment in accordance with the set specifications, standards, and safety procedures to ensure optimal plant availability

The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and supervision of the day-to-day maintenance and repair of control & instrumentation equipment in accordance with the set specifications, standards, and safety procedures to ensure optimal plant availability.

Qualifications and experience requirements

1. A recognized Trade or Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
2. Matric Certificate or equivalent is mandatory if Trade qualification is held.
3. At least three (3) years post qualification in a control & instrumentation environment.
4. Supervisory experience would be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct tasks related with maintenance and operations team.
• Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems.
• Ensure to commission instrumentation effective following with repair and replacement.
• Conduct test related to functional performance on instrumentation as needed by facility changes.
• Ensure conformance with environmental and safety requirements are met when executing required instrument maintenance or replacement activities.
• Maintain and update awareness of modifications to regulatory needs related to conduct of maintenance and construction of instrument.
• Comply with every approved operation and maintenance procedures.
• Work with maintenance planners to schedule workload and ensure Planning and Spares holding for instrumentation is kept updated.
• Ensure Planning and Spares holding for instrumentation is kept updated.
• Ensure that programme maintenance and backups are completed timeously.
• · Ensure project management and controls are followed when expanding and duplicating systems.
• Own self-development and remain abreast of all developments in PLC and controls.
• Ensure budget and cost controls are upheld for instrumentation and maintenance.
• Planning and coordinating events (wellness days, annual awards, long services, medical aid assist & induction sessions)

Assisting with any other administrative tasks as and when they may arise
