SUMMARY:
A reputable chemical company has a vacancy for a suitably qualified instrumentation artisan for their factory in Kempton Park.

POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the job

 

The position is mainly responsible for executing the maintenance tasks in a safe, efficient and effective way according to the job package. The successful candidate will also be responsible for adding value to the customers of the instrument department by supplying excellent workmanship in their field of expertise. All work performed by the Instrument Mechanician must be in accordance to procedures, specifications and rules.

• Ad hoc plant maintenance (Instrumentation)
• Maintenance Schedules and inspections (Instrumentation)
• Participation in Root Cause Investigations, troubleshooting and problem solving
• Participation in transferring of skills and formulation of procedures based on specific trade and qualification
• Participation in Management of Change process

 

Knowledge / skills/ Competencies

 

• Computer literacy in MS office (word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent technical problem solving skills
• Proactive problem solving abilities – use initiative
• Sound judgment and decision making skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Siemens PCS7: PLC, SCADA and DCS systems
• Knowledge of ABB inline analysers
• Broad knowledge of instrumentation and applications
• Good time management skills – deadline driven
• Quality and results orientated
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure / High sense of urgency

 

Experience

 

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a similar position in a chemical manufacturing environment after successful completion of trade test.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Matric
• Trade test as Instrument Mechanician (Essential)
• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Desirable)

 

Technical/Legal Certification

 

• Siemens S7 Service and Maintenance (Part 1)
• Siemens S7 Service and Maintenance (Part 2)

 

Reporting structure:

 

• This position reports to the Instrumentation Works Coordinator.

 

 

Personal Circumstances:

 

• Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the companies’ medical centre
• May be required to be on standby

 

 

Other details:

 

Salary: Min R23k per month but negotiable.
