SUMMARY:

The main purpose of this position:

The Infection Control Coordinator will be responsible to plan, develop and implement an infection control programme for the hospital using infection control standards and international best practice

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Requirements:

A relevant nursing qualification (B Cur Degree/ or relevant management qualification)
Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations
Compulsory BLS certification
Clinical Expertise within your speciality
Advanced Computer Literacy
Excellent IPC knowledge
Post basic qualification in IPC will be an advantage

Duties & Responsibilities:

Aid and assist all hospital employees in managing the prevention, identification and control of infections in patients and employees
Plan, develop and implement an infection control program in keeping with the updated infection control standards
Notify the Department of Health timeously of diseases where applicable
Organize regular infection control and health and safety committee meetings and document the proceedings
Maintain an up to date infection control file that is available and accessible to all nursing and house-keeping staff
Ensure the adherence / supervision of protective clothing for all employees and members of the public when needed
