IT Team Lead Infrastructure Engineer

POSITION INFO:

IT Team Leader – Infrastructure Engineer – JHB North

This position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels, must be experienced in people management, have a strong technical understanding and the drive and vision to move Operations to the next level.

The successful candidate will have experience creating/devising strategies, mentoring people in all levels, technical solutions. This position involves leading teams in Server Support, Vmware Support, SAN/Array support. This position involves hardware diagnostics followed by physical repair and includes participation should be willing to work both independently and managing their teams effectively. Work prioritization, or communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to strong knowledge of repair, candidates will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7.

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferable -
Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, CompTIA Server+, Storage Skills or equivalent certifications are desirable -
Strong IT/Datacentre skills/experience/background – SAN, Array, VMware, Server Support, CobIT
Strong understanding of networking protocols, routing, and switching concepts -
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a systematic approach to issue resolution -
Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors -
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks based on business needs –
Minimum 7 years’ working experience
4+ years’ experience managing people in a technical environment
4+ years’ experience in participating in on-call rotations, and providing a service that operates 24/7
5+ years’ experience with computer hardware and data centres
2+ years’ experience leading teams
Willing to travel and work extended hours
