IT Systems Administrator

SUMMARY:
An opportunity has become available for an IT Analyst with experience in the Hospitality industry.

POSITION INFO:

Operations:

- Maintain a detailed registry of all installed devices, operating systems and software. The registry must include serial numbers, make, model, year of purchase/installation and the service coverage, i.e. ‘care pack certificates’, hardware service agreements, software service agreements etc.

- The inventory must be verified on a regular basis, i.e. by doing a physical inventory quarterly to ensure everything is registered in accordance with reality.

- Software licenses must be evidenced by supplier issued certificates or other relevant evidence of the proper licensing of such software package.

- The registry must clearly correlate number of installed packages with the appropriate licenses.

- Maintain an agreement with the local Internet Service Provider for the availability and the usage of the link to the global Internet.

- Systems must be operated in accordance with the instructions provided by the systems provider (manufacturer or supplier).

-  The server room must be physically checked on a daily basis. Look out for: § Smoke & water presence § Cooling (on a regular basis test cooling units to ensure sufficient capacity and that all units are in operation or hot-standby) § Alarms (armed, not active) § Lights on servers (verify that there are no server alerts indicating hardware failure or potential hardware failures) If any abnormalities are detected corrective actions must be taken according to standard operating procedures.

- Ensure all critical systems are available and processing as per described service levels.

- Check backup logs.

- OS and application security updates.

-  Check AV & HIDS.

- Check logs from servers (event log, messages, etc.).

-  Check disk space on servers regularly.

- Perform first-level support for all standard software applications and all hardware.

-  Remote support (telephone/E-Mail).

Requirements:

- Tertiary qualification in IT/related

-  Minimum 3 years'' experience as an IT Analyst with experience in the above

- Experience working in the hospitality industry (IT position)
