POSITION INFO:

Role Purpose
To manage computer operations infrastructure, server, networking, desktop and database administration of integrated system staff management, architecture and strategy.
Responsibilities
• Drive business profitability in the context of cost management through Information technology solutions

• Establish, align and manage target and budget goals whilst ensuring effective control of costs for a range of functional areas to increase cost efficiency

• Influence, encourage and manage the cost-effective use of systems and facilities

• Develop a IT service culture which builds rewarding relationships, proposes innovations and allows others to provide exceptional client service

• Cultivate and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, SME’s, project managers and senior staff members by providing input to business requirements

• Operationally manage, monitor, alert and escalate for a number of diverse platforms which include , Mid-range, Personal Computers, Networks, Helpdesk and Enterprise Management.

• Comply, understand and implement all steps within IT development and meet governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements

• Ensure all the required hardware and software contracts and SLA are up to date and all metrics are met

• Production environment Support and Automation, for their respective support teams (Technical and Development)

• Support all incidence and problem management when necessary

• Manage own development to increase own competencies

• Facilitate the conversion of knowledge management and ideas into new or improved processes and services.

• Plan and manage performance, skills development, employment equity, talent and culture of team in order to improve innovation, achieve efficiencies and increase competencies

• Set performance contracts and assess individuals against their KPIs.

• Define and implement Personal Development Plans including training.

• Manage associated administration.

• Perform performance management. • Responsible for IT Operations resource allocation, capacity planning (both current and future). •

Define and implement standards within DevOps team for work processes, practices:

• Define appropriate templates, tools, procedures, review processes.

• Be aware of and comply with all relevant IT operations standards, procedures and processes. Ensure delivery is in line with IT Governance standards and practices and mature the level of IT governance within the team as relevant to the IT Operations domain.

• Actively coach and develop the DevOps team, ensuring that the team holistically builds a detailed knowledge of topics relevant to clients Insurance Pillar and the IT Operations/DevOps domains. • Actively foster collaboration between the DevOps team and other role-players within the Agile SDLC (supporting the current matrix structure).

• Accountable for the management of the BCP and DR procedures and processes from an IT perspective.

• Deal with any issue escalations or quality escalations from the associated Project Manager/Product Owner/CIO related to the IT Operations deliverables or performance.

• Accountable for determining risks and managing risk around IT Operations – these include both project risks and product risks

• Responsible for the management and stability of the application infrastructure – working collaboratively with areas we are dependent on to ensure stability and fast resolution of any identified issues.

• IT Service Delivery: KPIs will be strictly aligned to system uptimes of 99.99% across the production landscape with minimal to zero production incidents caused by infrastructure outages.

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelors in Information Systems or Computer Science Core or Software Service Technician MCSE, CCIE, MS SQL+, RHCE or RHCA

• 5 – 7 years
