SUMMARY:
KZN: The successful candidate will plan, design, install and maintain the irrigation of scheduling probes and automatic weather stations on a wide range of crops. The candidate will also be responsible for developing an irrigation strategy for the crops in question and give feedback to the producer.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- BSC Degree in Agriculture/Soil Science – 3 year degree in Agri Sciences
- • Basic knowledge of soil science
- • Experience in water related management activities is advantageous
- • Experience in crop production is advantageous
- • Excellent communication skills
- • Computer literate
- • Bilingual – Afrikaans and English
• Must be willing to travel
• Must love the outdoors
• Must be able to function under pressure and to function independently
• A strong sense of responsibility
• Must be willing to work long hours
• Should be willing to gain new scientific knowledge
Not limited to the below, the incumbent will be required to perform the following primary duties:
• Assess the suitability of an irrigation system for the soil type and crop.
• Scheduling via capacitance probes
• Feedback to farmers/clients
• Drafting of drainage layout
• Drafting of irrigation blocks based on the physical characteristics of the soil
• Indicate appropriate probe positions based on the physical characteristics of the soil
