POSITION INFO:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Requirements:

• Degree in Science, Law or Engineering, business, honours degree preferable
• Experience: minimum of 1 year working experience with IP, research and reviewing of contracts.

Main purpose / objective

The main purpose of this position is to scout university IP, record and assist researchers with invention disclosures. Further, conduct prior-art search, conduct research and preliminary market assessment for new invention disclosures. Assist the OTT administrator with IP awareness, events organizing and other daily administrative task for the office. 

Key job functions

IP Scouting:

• Assist both the Manager in East London and the TTO in Alice with organizing and conducting: meetings, workshops and training. Review postgraduates’ outputs (dissertations) for any potential IP. Attend SME workshops, EDHE student entrepreneurship to safeguard UFH IP from students and assist with idea pitching to funders and external stakeholders.
• Review research contract, funding agreements, for drafting license agreement, term-sheets before they are forwarded to the university legal office for approval, thereby improving the university turn-around out.

IP Awareness:

• Assist in organizing awareness campaigns where necessary 

Office administration:

• Assist both the Manager in East London and the TTO in Alice with the facilitation of logistics of the TTO operations (e.g. travel, meetings, etc)
