SUMMARY:
A leading Waste Management company is seeking the services of a Human Resources (HR) Generalist - Special Projects for its Head Office in Germiston.

POSITION INFO:

 PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To assist in the design, planning, managing and implementation of Special Projects that contribute to the Aligned strategic intent of the organization and the HR department.

SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Responsible for several aspects of the personnel function or one major such as Training and Development, Skills Development, and Talent Management.  

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

 

  • Coordinate, track and conduct quarterly Training committee meetings,
  • Minute taking and circulation of Training committee meetings,
  • Ensure the closure and obtainment of Training committee objectives and requirements,
  • Provide timeously and ongoing feedback to the Training committee,
  • Generate and circulated monthly training reports in conjunction with the Training Officer,
  • Manage and co-ordinate all SETA programmes [Services Seta / TETA],
  • Submission of workplace skills plan (WSP) and actual training reports (ATR) in conjunction with the training coordinator.
  • Co-ordination, planning and management of learner-ships
  • Ensure compliance of Skills Development is maximised to meet BBBEE targets,
  • Conduct / coordinate training needs gap analysis [IDP, psychometric assessments, and career development discussions],
  • Drafting of Training and mentorship agreements,
  • Create and tailor career development programmes in conjunction with line management needs and career pathing,
  • Implement and track career development programmes progression via meetings with management and candidates,
  • Provide guidance and coaching to potential managerial employees on the career development process and requirements,
  • Reporting and database management of career development programmes / succession planning initiatives progression on a monthly basis,
  • Study loan applications and working / assistance of students as required,
  • Ensuring that training and development plans compliment Employment Equity guidelines of the company.

 

EMPLOYMENT EQUITY

 

  • Compiling the Employment Equity plan (in required format and on time) in terms of the legislation, for approval by the HRGM’s & HR Director.
  • Ensure that EE Plans are met and regularly addresses matters as they pertain to the achievement of EE Targets and Goals.
  • Provide feedback on the attainment of targets on a micro level to the HR department on a monthly basis.
  • Work in conjunction with the HR department on promotions and appointments to ensure alignment with EE targets.
  • Earmark positions / vacancies as AA roles for designated groups to ensure alignment with EE targets,
  • Communication, training and awareness of all employees regarding company EE plans.

 

STAKE HOLDER ENGAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION

  •  Routine visits to sites to engage with employees and managers (when appropriate) to ensure that effective stakeholder relations are maintained,
  • Ensure that HR is seen as a presence in all areas.
  • Ensure that you are completely aware of all events, situations and happenings in your area of responsibility. .
  • DOL audits with the preparation of all the required documentation
  • Routinely contact Depot Managers / Supervisors to ensure that all outstanding matters are attended to.
  • Act as a primary contact to functional managers on all HR related issues & services.
  • Provide consulting to managers on a broad range of HR related issues and problems.
  • Develop, update and implement all HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage professional HR and IR administration practice, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all annual labour law related compliance and submissions,
  • Advice on Best Practice implementation on all Human resources strategies, policies and procedures as based in practice.

 PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Create concrete, detailed plans for a project, including the schedule, the budget, outlining the duties of each team members, identifying project goals, and setting a timeline for the project. Collaborate with various teams and hold meetings to develop project plans and present them to upper-level management before starting the project,
  • Manage project budget,
  • Manage project resource allocation,
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools,
  • Provide direction and support to project team,
  • Quality assurance,
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders,
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions,
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs,
  • Project evaluations and assessment of results,
  • Stakeholder engagement and management,
  • Weekly, Monthly, quarterly and yearly managerial reports,
  • Responsible for day-to-day project operations.

RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION                     

  • Ensure that all vacancies within your area of responsibility are concluded in a timeously manner.
  • To ensure that job requirements for a vacant position adhere to the requirements of line management and that the job description comply with all the necessary job specifications and responsibilities.
  • To ensure that vacancies are timeously advertised internally and externally.
  • To utilize additional external recruitment consultants, media etc. when company portals are not sufficient. 
  • Make sure that interviews are timeously and professionally arranged with line managers.
  • Ensure that references where applicable are executed.
  • Ensure that unsuccessful applicants, internal or external (interview stage) have been notified of outcome.  
  • Proper checking of the sign on documentation and provided to payroll for loading.
  • Making sure that all medical documentation is completed, reported to service provider and subsequent loading by payroll.
  • Ensuring that medical deductions are implemented and subsequent stats reported to the service provider on a monthly basis. 
  • Ensure that new incumbents completed the induction process.
  • Execute poor performance of newly appointed employees as per standard company procedure.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Human Resources,  [Honorary Degree Advantageous]
  • Intermediate capability in Microsoft Office
  • Valid Code 08/10 Drivers Licence, Own Vehicle [Advantageous]
  • In-depth knowledge of the BCEA, LRA, EEA, SD Act
  • Registered Skills Development Facilitator [Advantageous]
  • Registration with COMENSA [Advantageous],
  • Registration  as commissioner of oaths [Advantageous],
