  • Primary Responsibilities

The main purpose of this position is to provide an effective and efficient industrial generalist function in alignment with departmental and company strategy through successful implementation of HR strategy and delivery of customer service within the organization and creating a positive working environment and developing a competent workforce through building partnerships with line and business managers and ensuring organizational compliance to all relevant policies and legislation within the Minerals Trade Energy Division. This includes all Minerals Trade Energy Offices and Sites.

  • Specific Responsibilities
    • Employee Relationship
      • Ensure awareness and adherence to L.R.A., B.C.E.A. and all other related labor legislation in the country and advise the business on labour legislation reviews.
      • Manage the full IR function within the Minerals Trade Energy Division.
      • Assist line managers implement fair procedures to deal with misconduct.
      • Advise managers on the resolution of individual grievances.
      • Managing disciplinary process (counseling, meeting & enquiries).
      • Represent the company in all CCMA related matters (conciliation & arbitration level).
      • Build and manage relationship with Employee Representative Group and any other Union(s) relationship according to legislation.
      • Compile ad hoc reports when required.
      • Training of new employees and site management on ER Policy and IR process.
      • Keep abreast of IR policy development.

 

  • Administration
    • Compiling of Management reports on all key output areas of the position or as needed.
    • Implement HR Procedures and processes in accordance to SGS Group guidelines, local legislation (and unions’ requirements if applicable).
    • Ensure regular communication of organizational and personnel related changes to all employees within the affiliate.
    • Comply and promote, at all times, the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct to preserve and enhance SGS reputation as a socially responsible company.
    • Monthly IR Report and following up.
    • Ensuring all HR related documents are control as per process prescribe and policy.
    • Adhere to the Management System Policy Manual as approved.
  • Human Resource Management
    • Drive the development of HR strategies, goals and objectives, and ensure the delivery thereof.
    • Identify opportunities for updating and enhancing HR policies, processes and procedures to effect continual improvements in the division.
    • Facilitate adherence to HR policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
    • Facilitate the implementation of talent management and succession planning.
    • Assist business to effectively manage headcount.
    • Build a culture of Performance Management.
    • Proactively identify and pre-empt HR risks within SGS.
    • Maintaining and updating of Organizational Structures and Job Descriptions.
    • Managing, maintaining and updating of all personnel files
    • Capturing of new engagements/increases or promotions.
    • Updating any other changes on system e.g. banking details.
    • Assistance with reviewing and updating of all HR documentation for example, engagement pack, contracts of employment
    • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

Education

  • Grade 12
  • Diploma or Degree

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years IR / HR Generalist experience in a large organization of 500+ employees
  • At least 2 years operational experience and success as IR / HR Generalist in a corporate environment
