Summary: Our client is looking for a Hostess that will greet their guests as they arrive. The Hostess's friendly face and welcoming smile sets the tone and is critical to creating an inviting environment. The candidate must also able to communicate and engage the guests and suggestion of a favorite meal.



Job Description

Hostess Required for Bakery:


  • Must be able to work various shifts per week
  • A genuine passion and knowledge for food and pastry
  • Grade 12 and previous experience in a restaurant or related field
  • Flexible and long hours required at times.
  • Must be able to manoeuvre throughout the dining and kitchen area throughout the shift.
  • Candidate must reside in the Menlyn or close surrounding areas
  • Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English


The following skills and knowledge are necessary but not limited to:

  • Greet and assist Guests in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner
  • Accurately taking Guest and carry out orders
  • Math, computer and credit card terminal skills to accurately collect cash and process credit card transactions
  • Ability to properly answer phone, take messages and assist caller in professional courteous manner
  • Full knowledge of proper sanitation, food safety and security procedures
  • Full knowledge of Menu, and bakery items being offered
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills in order to assist Guests, fellow Team Members and Management
  • Strong skills in time management and organization, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to read and take direction and execute Team and company objectives with an attitude of courtesy and cooperation
  • Analytical skills and a degree of emotional intelligence in order to recognize and solve problems that come with the position
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of pace and intensity for an extended period of time
  • Must be reliable and dependable by being punctual and adhering to a schedule
  • Maintain positive working relationships with all Team Members and Managers
  • Sociable and friendly to customers. We believe a positive attitude is your biggest asset!
