JOB DESCRIPTION:

Introduction:

Plans, organises, directs and co-ordinates the operational activities of the organisation. Ensuring the operations are kept strictly in line with the occupational health and safety requirements. Lead a cultural change with regards to Continuous Improvement, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality, where excellence is expected, and managers are held accountable: responsible for compliance to legislation and to build compliance to agreed standards e.g. ISO in all areas of safety, health and environment to support the strategic priorities and business operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Health and Safety

- Manages, monitors, and improves health and safety standards in the organisation
- Monitors workplace health and safety risks, and advises workers how to minimise or eliminate these risks in the organisation
- Develops work safety systems and processes for the organisation
- Ensures the organisation complies with all Health and Safety regulations
- Compile and maintain safety files and other related relevant files for projects and for CW Nationally
- Conduct pre-implementation risk assessments on new sites as and when required and identify risk mitigation measures in conjunction with all contractors
- Review contractor safety files within the organisation
- Provide SHE improvement proposals, proposed corrective action, requires resources for corrective action and plan of implementation of NCR’s issued and following up thereof within the organisation
- Report on contractor performance where repetitive matters are not being addressed according to  standards
- Attend meetings as and when required on behalf of the company’s SHEQ department – management meetings, technical meetings
- Attend contractor meetings and report on outcomes
- Investigation and corrective action reporting
- Investigate root cause of SHE complaints by staff members, clients, customers, contractors and report the results to Management
- Prepare monthly reports and statistics related to SHE performance CW Nationally
- Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure highest level of preparedness in any emergency. Maintain records of drills Nationally.
- Supervise regular inspection of firefighting, safety and emergency response equipment at sites and offices and ensure that all Managers within the organisation
- Assist in development and implementing of emergency response procedures and evacuation plans on site and offices. Ensure that these plans are reviewed and updated regularly and communicated to staff and registered under training and induction
- Provide detailed audit finding reports. Identify non-conformities and provide corrective action to prevent re-occurrence
- Monitor and review that corrective measures have been implemented
- Travel to all branches within CW to ensure that they comply
- Assist in developing all the required documentation, operational checks, and reports for the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards, including corrective and preventative measures
- Review and amend standards, specifications, policies, and procedures for approval
- Establishing, monitoring, and implementing safe work procedures; standard operating procedures and safe work instructions for tasks as and when required
- Planning and coordinating SHEQ related training
- Maintaining and updating all relevant SHEQ department administrative folders pertaining to regional accountabilities and responsibilities

2. Maintenance

- Containers
- Maintaining an attractive sales and rental fleet always
- General maintenance and repairs on all sales, rental and self-storage containers
- Forklifts
- Ensure checklists are completed daily
- Ensure the machines are serviced at correct intervals
- Truck (Haulage)
- Ensure checklists are completed daily
- Ensure the vehicles & cranes are serviced at correct intervals
- Certificate of cranes and slings
- Tools and Equipment
- At all times maintain a neat and clean storeroom
- Maintenance and cleaning of equipment and tools.
