SUMMARY:
A 4-star Game Lodge in the Eastern Cape is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen team and deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, maintaining high culinary standards, managing stock and food costs, and leading the kitchen brigade. This role is suited to a dedicated chef with previous lodge experience who is looking for a long-term opportunity within a professional hospitality environment.
A practical cook-off will form part of the interview process.

REQUIREMENT:
- RSA ID and legal residence essential
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a 4-star or 5-star game lodge environment
- Proven experience managing kitchen operations and staff
- Strong menu planning, food preparation, and presentation skills
- Good understanding of stock control, food costing, and budgeting
- Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen compliance standards
- Strong leadership and staff management skills
- References are essential
- Own transport advantageous
- Ability to work under pressure in a hospitality environment
- Stable employment history essential

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Oversee all daily kitchen operations
- Ensure exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Manage kitchen staff, rosters, training, and performance
- Plan menus and assist with menu development
- Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
- Monitor food costs and kitchen expenditure
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen
- Manage guest dietary requirements and special requests
- Work closely with lodge management to enhance the guest experience
- Ensure efficient kitchen administration and reporting
