SUMMARY:
A remote Big 5 reserve in the Limpopo wilderness is seeking a couple to fill the roles of TRAILS GUIDE / APPRENTICE TRAILS GUIDE and FRONT OF HOUSE
POSITION INFO:
This position suits a self-reliant couple who thrive in a true bush setting; one leads guests on foot with confidence and care, while the other hosts guests and keeps the front of house running smoothly.
Core Criteria:
Trails Guide / Apprentice Trails Guide
- FGASA qualification (NQF 2 or NQF 4)
- Valid Trails Guide qualification with current backup trails (lead trails advantageous) [CONFIRM: requirements at apprentice level?]
- Valid PDP and driver’s licence
- Valid First Aid certificate with a wilderness component
- Relevant firearm competency and registration
- Big 5 guiding experience
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach to guests
- Physically fit and comfortable in a remote bush environment
Front of House Host- Previous hospitality, front office or hosting experience (advantageous)
- Strong hosting and guest relations skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Computer literate with confident email correspondence
- Ability to multitask and stay composed under pressure
- Well-organised, professionally presented, with a positive attitude
Core Responsibilities:
Trails Guide / Apprentice Trails Guide- Lead guided bush walks and walking safaris in line with safety protocols and reserve standards
- Assist with game drives when required
- Deliver engaging, informative and safety-focused guest experiences
- Interpret wildlife, ecology and tracking for guests
- Ensure guest safety at all times while on foot
- Assist with reserve management tasks, bush clearing and field maintenance
- Support lodge operations and guest hosting where needed
Front of House Host- Welcome and host guests with professionalism and warmth
- Oversee check-ins and check-outs
- Handle guest enquiries and requests with excellent service
- Ensure guests feel comfortable and well looked after throughout their stay
- Respond to emails and telephone calls promptly and professionally
- Coordinate with housekeeping and other departments
- Maintain records and daily reports
On Offer:- Couple’s position; live-in
- Trails Guide: R12,500 to R15,000 per month, depending on experience
- Front of House Host: R9,500 per month
