Between Wellington and Paarl, WC (Must currently live local) Live in 2 Bedroom unfurnished House
Salary Negotiable

Our boutique GUEST HOUSE is situated on an exclusive 33-hectare grape farm between Wellington and Paarl. The farm hosts a popular wedding venue (currently rented, managed, and operated by a third-party) and the GUEST HOUSE with overnight self-catering facilities for 22 adults and 8 children. We are currently looking for a MANAGER to manage all aspects of the Guest House.

The successful candidate needs to be a mature, experienced, energetic person who is looking for a new challenge. A well-rounded candidate with a stable, proven track record, including Guest House Management experience, who is outgoing, friendly, and well presented. Should have keen eye for detail, be hands-on, practical and enjoy getting hands dirty. Must be able to work unsupervised and independently with small compliment of staff/subcontractors. Excellent understanding of service excellence, passion for hospitality and very client focused.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• You must have a stable track record with contactable references
• Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Must have own, reliable transport and valid drivers license
• Must already live in the greater Wellington/Paarl area, or have lived here
• Must be a South African Citizen

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Previous work experience of at least 10 years in management roles in related guest house / lodge environment
• Experience in managing a large and diverse property
• Good all-rounder with experience in all aspects of the operation – sales/marketing/ housekeeping/ front office/ property management
• Must be able to multitask with good organisational and planning skills, with ability to work well under pressure
• Basic knowledge of HR matters and procedures
• Basic experience and knowledge relating to maintenance and gardening
• An understanding of budget control and financial management and planning
• General office administration and management ability and excellent time management skills (ability to meet deadlines)
• Excellent written and spoken English skills and fluent in Afrikaans

TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• Office Administration/ General
o General emails
o Filing
o Banking, petty cash
o Financial reconciliations
o Manage office infrastructure i.e. internet, phones
o Running errands

• Guest House Operations
o Compile, implement and review operational policies and procedures
o Reservations – handle enquiries, viewings, quotes, confirmations, Nightsbridge and diary
o Reception, check in and check out of guests
o Guest relations – liaise with clients and others suppliers to identify needs and ensure customer satisfaction
o Problem solving and being available in case of emergencies
o Guest documentation and signage
o Post departure guest communication
o Special projects i.e. manage special occasions

• Housekeeping
o Set in-room cleaning and guest preparation standards and procedures, train staff, check and manage
o Laundry – set standards and procedures, train staff, check and manage
o Inventory, stocktaking, stock control and purchasing of in-room and laundry items, amenities, cleaning products
o Manage maintenance and repairs/replacements of in-room and laundry items

• HR
o Rostering
o Set and manage performance standards
o Compile and manage staff task lists

• Property Management
o Actively set, implement and manage standards, policies and procedures to ensure a manicured facility and faultless guesthouse
o Oversee infrastructure ( non-municipal water, generator, septic tanks, refuge removal)
o Oversee general maintenance – gardens and buildings
o Manage garden service, garden maintenance plan, irrigation
o Manage and control inventories
o Special projects i.e. redecorating a room or developing a garden feature

• Sales & Marketing
o Proactively research, benchmark, recommend and implement opportunities to grow or better the business
o Manage, update and better website, social media, Instagram, listing sites
