POSITION INFO:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The Group Specialist Research and Innovation (GSR&I) will take responsibility for advising and leading the group with respect to new engineering processes and associated technologies by conducting research which will assist with creating a better understanding of the intended process and behaviour of materials for commercial readiness. The position also takes joint responsibility for implementing the eNtsa strategic goals and assist in the sustainability of the group through interactions with internal and external stakeholders and commercial contracts. The job entails technical leading of research and innovation investigations, testing, examining and interpreting results from which engineering technologies, patents, trademarks, design registrations, academic papers and technical reports can be generated. Responsibilities include communicating the results via quality reports and discussions with engineering group, clients and research partners (External and Internal).

The GSR&I will take responsibility for driving the eNtsa''s vision of "Innovation through Engineering" with a focus on exploiting Small Sample Testing for both static and time-based studies, Solid State Welding and other associated techniques linked to integrity management of high value engineering structures. These activities will be done in support of the existing engineering and research program within the eNtsa. The ability to generate and analyse data from research platforms like iXRD, Xray Tomography, SEM and SPT and SPCT platforms will be crucial towards realising the scientific bae for innovation. Additionally, the GSR&I will have to manage and monitor eNtsa research related projects. The GSR&I takes responsibility for proposing and leading the scientific investigation of new processes and techniques within the field as identified above as well as identified and approved by eNtsa management.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

•Engineering opinions as a consulting services to clients (internal & external) as a metallurgical/materials specialist

Evaluate, test, examine and interpret results to compile technical reports and inform high level engineering decisions

•Project management and leading research and innovation projects to ensure compliance with standards and project scope

•Provide technical expertise to inform engineering decisions to ensure technical correctness and commercial viability

•Identify and develop business opportunities for growth and sustainability

•Develop project proposals with costing models to ensure economic viability

•Balance technical solutions with allocated budgets to ensure effectiveness and sustainability

•Provide technical support to projects using own initiative to align activities with the strategic direction of eNtsa

•Plan and co-ordinate research projects to increase effectiveness

•Support to the engineering and business development agreements

•Support various projects as identified to support eNtsa strategic goals

•Support to the contract research and academic research to ensure knowledge generation is focused and achieved as per identifiedknowledge areas in support of innovation

•Technical Report writing for accurate communication to ensure technical integrity, customer satisfaction/excellence and compliance

•Good attitude and self-discipline to support the core values of eNtsa

CORE COMPETENCIES

•Technical expertise in providing material and testing solutions

Advance data analysis and interpretation skills as applied to mechanical properties to inform structural integrity studies

•Experience user of technologies like Small Punch Creep/Static Testing, iXRD for determining Residual Stresses and Xray Tomography fordefect analysis

•Work independently on projects

•Reliable and competent to operate in a fast changing/innovative environment

•A good understanding of the latest development on an international front - active in research publishing

•Lead a team with good attitude and self-discipline

•Technical Report writing for internal and external stakeholders

•Management expertise in creating a quality orientated work environment

•Management skills for budgeting, planning and coordinating projects

REQUIREMENTS

Required Minimum Education: PhD in Mechanical or Materials Engineering

•Professional Registration with the Engineering Council
