Group HSSE Manager

SUMMARY:
Our Client based in Johannesburg is looking for a Group HSSE Manager to be responsible for all Health and Safety Compliance matters and also security of group warehouses and commodities

POSITION INFO:

Qualification/Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience
• Experience in East and Central African markets highly advantageous
• Excellent communication skills
• Solution and growth mindset
• Must be able to conduct risk assessments, submit safety reports, issue PPE
• A lot of travel required

Responsibilities

• Define and implement a regional / group HSSE plan
• Plan and implement growth and compliance initiatives in line with latest ISO guidelines
• Initiate transformational drives within the region to move HSE ownership to employees
• Coordinate visible leadership initiatives and track cultural changes on behaviour and attitude
• Develop, manage and update the HSE system with current information
• Develop, empower and conduct safety inspections in line with statutory requirements
• Train or facilitate the training of regional staff on HSE related statutory requirements
• Drive the environmental strategy in the region through key stakeholders
• Participate in internal and external audits as well as policy reviews and statutory enquiries
• Identify high risk projects and ensure contractor / transporter compliance and safety compliance prior to commencement
• Project manage special HSE related projects including the task-group, project plan and take responsibility for the project deliverable
• Provide specialist HSE support and consultation in SA 
• Collate data and compile qualitative and quantitative reports
• Identify HSE risks, and methodically calculate risk to region. Identify and implement control plans to mitigate or manage the risk to an acceptable level within the risk management framework
• Drive standard and policy implementation in the region and review implementation effectiveness 
• Create a sharing and learning platform to promote HSE awareness in the region
