Job Description

  1. FORMAL TRAINING REQUIRED:

    Bcom Financial Accounting Degree (SAIPA)

    Accredited SAIPA Articles

    Post article experience will be beneficial

    The function of the Group Accountant 

    Group Assistant Accountant to provide assistance to the Group Accountant to ultimately ensure that the Group’s governance, taxation and internal control processes are operating effectively. This position reports directly to the Group Accountant, based in the South Africa.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Prepares monthly management accounts to accurately reflect the results of property companies, within the set deadlines

    Prepares year-end accounting packages in standardised format for auditors

    Assistance with year-end procedures and communication with auditors

    Assistance with the preparation of tax returns and provisional and final tax calculations

    Assists with the preparation of annual budgets

    Assistance to the public officer on all SARS related matters

    Assistance with compliance of the Companies Act

    Assistance with cash management

    Assisting with project work on an ad hoc basis

      1. Knowledge of current professional accounting and auditing standards, procedures, methodologies and requirements

        Knowledge on the Companies Act 2008

        Knowledge on VAT and Income Tax

        Experience on SARS e-filing (VAT201, IRP6 and IT 14)

        Exposure to internal and external audit and accounting

        Experience in the preparation and analysis of audit data through computer aided audit tools (such as Excel spreadsheets, or other database tools)

        Understands business and audit strategy and has the ability to generate and apply unique insights and opportunities to create a competitive advantage for the organisation

        • SKILLS REQUIRED:

          Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook

          Excellent oral and written communication skills

          Strong analytical skills

          Strong skills relationship building, problem solving, and timely problem escalation

          The ability to interact with management and staff at all levels

          • BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED:
