Position overview:

Creating original artwork as required by client briefs, while adhering to existing brand standards. Reviewing drafts of the in-house design team to ensure quality and consistency in production. Managing the design process to ensure timeous delivery to clients.

Minimum requirements:

  •  Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification (BA / BSc in Design / Visual Arts / relevant)
  •  3 - 5 years’ experience in managing a team
  •  At least 5 years Graphic design experience
  •  Portfolio of completed design projects

 

Responsibilities:

  •  Design independently as well as collaboratively with in-house design team
  •  Provide quality control of the briefs, ensuring all elements are available and clear before sending on to the relevant designer
  •  Manage the distribution and production of project workload of the in-house design team, prioritizing where necessary
  •  Set realistic timelines and manage client expectations
  •  Provide the design team with collective actionable feedback on design reverts
  •  Provide feedback to brand managers on the status of projects regularly
  •  Ensure design team members software subscriptions are annually renewed
  •  Set up and implement production processes and technical standards for design projects
  •  Conduct meetings with design team members, individually and collectively on a regular basis
  •  Implementing brand guidelines where appropriate and applying them to new artworks
  •  Provide quality control by overseeing the junior designer’s artwork, file formatting, quality and accuracy of final design
  •  Proofreading and preparing designs to be sent to print.

  •  Advanced numerical skills and statistical skills
  •  Moderate MS Office skills, proficient with design software Adobe, InDesign, Photoshop
  •  The capacity to arrange the availability and allocation of resources. To plan, prioritise and systemise the action in line with required resources and timelines.
  •  Capacity to develop followers by providing them with clear and simple instructions, demonstrations and explanations and systematically exposing them to planned but increasingly challenging tasks
