General / Workshop Assistant

SUMMARY:
An Opportunity for a General / Workshop Assistant for one of our clients in the automotive Industrial sector to be based in Ceres - Western Cape PERMANENT POSITION.

POSITION INFO:

Requirements, Skills and Knowledge : 

• Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent qualification, plus appropriate job-related work experience (minimum of 3 years)
• Ability to drive a forklift, have forklift operator’s licence or have the ability and competence to successfully obtain a forklift operator’s licence
• Must have knowledge of machines and tools and their uses
• Must have practical knowledge and experience of disassembling (stripping) of machines and reassembling
• Must have practical knowledge and experience of various minor repairs to equipment / machines
• Excellent work ethic – honest, reliable, hardworking, dedicated and takes pride in work carried out
• Good communication skills with people at all levels in an organisation – must be able to converse comfortably in English; must be able to read and write English
• Ability to work with little or no supervision and still complete tasks timeously; enthusiastic, self-motivated and can use own initiative
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Ability to manage own time – to work according to a schedule and complete set tasks in time
• Ability to understand and follow safety measures and precautions
• Must be of sober habits, have high energy levels and general good health – must be physically able to carry, lift, and move heavy objects; must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time; must be able to bend, stretch, twist and reach with body, arms and/or legs
• Ability to function effectively in a group and add value to the team / environment
• Ability and desire to improve skills and knowledge; eager to learn and able to translate knowledge into improved behaviour / actions

Required Licence / Registration

• Code 10, or 14 / EC without any vehicle or driver restrictions + Professional Drivers’ Permit and appropriate medical clearance
• Valid forklift operator licence
• Code 8 / EB drivers licence
