SUMMARY:
Our client, a prominent Investment Management company in Gauteng, has an exciting job opportunity for a Fund Administrator within a brand new team.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities:

Adding new funds to the platform

  • On request from the Investment Committee and associated 3rd parties (Morningstar)
  • On request from fund managers as they relate to ballots/amalgamations
    • This may include adding a new Manco, associated bank details, bulk account structures, and linking funds in Finswitch

 Managing fund changes on the Core system (Sonata)

  • Fund changes (such as name, fee, and benchmark changes)
  • Fund ballots/amalgamations/mergers
    • GIP has the option to vote on behalf of clients, however, this may not always be the case, where required, the candidate should assist with ballot requirements by the Fund Manager as well as managing the ballot, key timelines, etc. with the manager, clients, advisers and key internal teams.
    • This may also include engaging with the proposition team to draft proposals to the Retirement Fund trustees and LifeCo directors, as well as ensuring there is consensus re voting for, or against amongst the various internal stakeholders.
    • Fund closures
    • Managing access to funds
    • Fund capping
    • Other changes that may arise from time to time
    • Maintaining Funds (Including fund governance)
      • Ensuring funds are linked to the correct fund universe as informed by the Investment Committee and/or respective distribution channel
      • Ensuring fund information is up to date (Regulation 28 Asset allocation data, fund fee data, factsheets, and Morningstar research reports for the Core fund range, plus various others as required from time to time)

Management needs to be informed (working closely with the Manco Relationship Manager)

  • Assisting with data/stats as required by Fund Managers from time to time
    • Building relationships with Fund Manager’s operational teams to aid problem resolution and delivery of changes/requests in conjunction with the Manco Relationship manager.

 Reporting:

  • Ad-Hoc fund data/stats as required by the Investment Committee (quarterly)
  • Ensuring monthly Manco reports are sent to the respective Mancos
  • Institutional and retail reporting
  • Other reporting as required from time to time

 Communication:

  • It’s imperative that all fund changes, new fund additions, etc. are communicated to the relevant stakeholders, internally and externally to advisers/clients. This is done through
  • A Communications Forum/Committee:
  • Assist with detail of changes that inform the communications strategy

 Day to day correspondence

  • Fund Managers and associated internal stakeholders will communicate with GIP through a central inbox
    • The inbox needs to be managed day-to-day, key dates, for changes, need to be captured from here on the respective internal systems (Confluence/JIRA), Manco Relationship manager needs to be informed of key events where attendance may be required.
    • The inbox must be “manned” daily and must be cleared and filed accordingly.
    • Fund tracker is managed daily

 Projects:

  • In conjunction with the Manco relationship manager, Investments admin, and or the Investment Committee as required from time to time.
  • Maintain MANCO contact lists.
  • Keep a record of all fund requests, ballots, amalgamations and queries (JIRA/Confluence)

Minimum Qualifications Required: 

  • Relevant Commerce Degree/ Diploma in
  • Business Administration or investments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • skills.
  • Multilingual (Advantageous).

Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years in Fund Relations or maintenance
  • Experience in a Financial Adviser firm or Investment Platform business.
  • Experience in delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Experience in solving problems for customers (internal or external).
  • Experience in building successful relationships and working collaboratively across departmental teams.
  • Experience at working in a fast-paced, proactive and delivery focused environments

Knowledge Required: 

A successful candidate will show: 

  • In-depth Fund maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Advanced
  • Product Knowledge, particularly understanding of investment and life products with regards to the processing of reconciliations (to subject matter expert level) in order to manage exceptions and explain reconciling items with substantiating evidence.
  • Knowledge of amendments to Standard Operating Procedures
  • A clear understanding of how fund maintenance and relations operate in an Investment organization.
  • An understanding of financial services regulation as it relates to investment platform providers.
  • A passion for continual growth and self-development
