A successful software house in East Kilbride is looking to add a Front End Developer to the team. The company decided to transform one of its main products a couple of years back from a desktop solution to a much newer SaaS Cloud platform. This transformation project has been going really well and overall, the business has been doing great too. They''re in a strong position at the moment which is why they''re looking to grow the team.
The new SaaS Cloud platform is completely bespoke, so they''re not expecting anyone to have prior experience of this. They''ve hired people from a Microsoft background in the past and have found that this has worked well but is in no means a requirement. The front end of the platform is built in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Bootstrap, so they''ll ideally find someone that has a decent amount of experience with these technologies. There are a few things that will really make you stand out for the role:
** Experience or knowledge of UX/UI design - the company has a UX team in place already and they''re in the process of trying to make the UX team and Front End Devs to collaborate even more,
** Experience or knowledge of SQL or any other databases for that matter - the current Developers in the team have good knowledge of this so it''s definitely not a necessity, more just something that will help you to get up to speed quicker, and/or
** Experience or knowledge of API''s - this can be writing them, consuming them or even testing them.
As mentioned, these aren''t necessities but would put you in a really good position for the role.
You''ll be joining a Development team of circa 12 people which is made up of Junior Developers, Mid-level Developers and Senior Developers - they''re looking for someone to come in as a mid-level Developer but if someone looks ideal for the role, they might look at a senior. They have big plans for continued growth over the next few years, so it''s a good time to get your foot in the door! You''ll also be working on greenfield project and be allowed to bring a lot of your own ideas to the table, which is super exciting.
Personality-wise, you''ll need to be someone who is enthusiastic and up for a challenge. Collaboration is a huge priority and way of working for these guys, so you absolutely need to be a strong team-player with the communication skills to back it up.
These guys have a very low turnover and have created an ethos that makes it a genuinely great place to work. They''ve got people of every level, from technical people who have been there for 15+ years to more junior employees who are pretty new in the door. Part of the way they have managed to create such a good environment is due to the ongoing training and development that is on offer. If you really think learning something will help you, you are encouraged to pitch for it. To give an example, a couple of senior Developers are sitting AWS certifications, which they think will help as they move to a cloud solution.
The company are based in East Kilbride and have obviously supported fully remote working over the last couple of years. Saying this, they''ve completely renovated their office and are really keen on getting people back into the office with their new hybrid model. They''re looking for people to come in at least a couple of days per week and the rest of the time you are fine to work remotely. The office is there to use as much as you want, if you prefer going in the office! The have free on-site parking and a train station not too far away too. They''re looking to pay from £30,000 - £40,000 for the role dependent on experience. Alongside this, they''ve got a strong benefits package which includes a bonus scheme (10-15%), private healthcare, plenty holidays and opportunity to travel if you''d like.
