Foreman: Livestock Section (Internal)

SUMMARY:

Requirements:

• Post Matric qualification in Agriculture majoring in Livestock Management.
• 5 years’ experience
• Good knowledge of vaccines and veterinary medication
• Extensive knowledge of cattle and small stock
• Manage subordinate staff

POSITION INFO:

Duties:

• Supervise the livestock section of the Research Farm;
• Oversee security of the farm and prevent veld fires;
• Record animal weights in the weight book
• Ensures daily animal count of animals
• Record daily work in the diary; births, deaths, sales of livestock
• Maintain long term ecological trials in accordance with the laid down specifications:
• Assist Livestock and Pasture Science HOD and Technicians
• Attend to animal welfare and treat animal diseases appropriately
• Work every second weekend and alternative public holidays
