Food Safety Specialist

SUMMARY:
Our client, a well-established food production company in the Epping area in Cape Town, is looking to employ a Food Safety Specialist to drive quality assurance in the factory.

POSITION INFO:

We are looking for a driven, task-orientated person who can lead the team in the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager, to whom the position reports. This position is open to all suitably qualified and experienced applicants.

The successful candidate will have solid audit experience, sound knowledge of Food Safety Systems and Standards, and will have experience with 5 - 8 years’ experience working within Thermal Process environments in FMCG. The position may involve extended hours or weekend work as per business requirement, but no shift work.

Main Responsibilities:

Implementing and maintaining food safety levels at site

Develop and implement training materials for use in improving Food Safety Awareness at site

Ensure compliance with Food Safety Standards and continuous improvement

Investigate customer complaints and perform Root Cause Analysis with appropriate feedback

Develop and maintain Consumer Complaint Statistics

Advise factory management on Food Safety Management Issues

Audits and assessment of the Food Safety Systems in the factory

Assist selected suppliers in the implementation and assurance of Food Safety requirements where needed

Coordinate and manage the environmental monitoring plan

Training and development of operators and team leaders regarding Food Safety requirements

Minimum requirements

Matric and tertiary qualification in Food Science, Biochemistry or Food Technology

Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in the Food Safety environment

Lead Auditor qualifications for Food Safety Systems FSSC 22000

High level of PC literacy including SYSPRO

Clear integrity records

Medically fit

Strong communication skills

Strong leadership skills

 Annual salary is R----- CTC per annum, including medical aid for primary member and provident fund.
