Fluid Buyer
POSITION INFO:
Duties & Responsibilities of a Buyer:
• Understand and implement the group purchasing strategy in respect of all Fluid Control and Hardware Products
• Produce Product Order Templates based within prescribed time-frames
• Issue, Receive and consolidate Order Templates within pre-defined time periods
• Provide estimated landed costs of shipment and ETA’s of orders to be placed
• Issue Order inquiries to Suppliers and compare pricing
• Obtain approval to place orders and confirm orders with suppliers
• Confirm order placement with Stock Controllers / Buyers in order for SYSPRO to be updated
• Monitor progress of orders and report back to Stock Controllers / Buyers on a regular basis
• Liaise with Suppliers, Shipping and Clearing Agents to expedite orders in the shortest possible time
• Liaise with Stock Controllers / Buyers regarding the maintenance of minimum & maximum stock levels
• Monitor daily group purchase reports and identify and implement better buying opportunities
• Maintain Product Masters on SYSPRO for related and specific products
• Ensure all buying schedules is completed in good time, approved by management and distributed in good manner and format to customers/suppliers
• Ensure stock levels of all items in your job function is kept at group approved levels using approved means, Template and Tempo
• Notify management of market related changes including price changes and any changes that can influence the company
• Negotiate in good manner with external parties on behalf of the company as and when required by management
• Ensure all purchase orders are planned and issued in detail, stipulating group requirements i.e. mass of bundles, size of packs and boxes, marking of material and all governmental requirements are followed where necessary
• Ensure continuous maintenance off stock codes on electronic reporting system
• Ensure correct tracking of movements off all related and relevant products, including imports, goods at processing facilities and internal bulk movements.
Skills & experience required:
• Candidate must have exceptional good product knowledge of Pipes & Fittings, Flanges, Valves and related products
• Experience and knowledge required in relationship building in terms of dealing with international manufacturers in fluid products
• Candidate must have the required experience and knowledge in dealing with the importing of products from overseas / internationally (i.e. tariffs, exchange rates, clearing & forwarding etc.)
• This position will be at a senior level
• Responsible for the buying of all fluid related range of products
• Minimum 5-10 years’ experience required within a Fluid Buyer job function - i.e. sourcing products locally and internationally
• Candidate will be required to travel internationally to the Far East to meet with Suppliers
• Required to meet with local and international Suppliers and negotiate pricing etc.
• Candidate must have solid computer skills - must be computer literate - especially in MS Excel - candidate must be required to use the following function, i.e. "V-lookup"
Generic skills & experience required:
• Candidate must have strong negotiation and people skills
• Syspro experience will be an advantage
• Candidate must have good computer skills - must be computer literate - Advanced MS Excel skills required
• Must have a strong personality to handle and lead people
• Must be able to work in a pressurized and fast paced environment
• Working hours must not be a problem
• Formal qualification in Purchasing / Buying will be an advantage
• Candidate needs to have experience in terms of dealing with a multi-branch network across the country
• The Distribution Centre / Central Purchasing is a centralized Branch servicing a multi-branch network of Stewarts & Lloyds Branches across the country
• Candidate must have experience in a large organisation in terms of operations and volumes
