Fleet Support Technician Job Spec

 Job Responsibilities:

Will Oversee the overall maintenance of the entire fleet and drives vehicle uptime.

Will be overall accountable for vehicle availability and will constantly liaise with the operations team to synchronise fleet maintenance downtime and  load execution.

Will constantly monitor fleet condition by making sure vehicle inspections are completed and diagnostic tests are done in order to identify worn out and damaged parts.

Will Champion and Drive health and Safety culture to the entire company.

Records and follows up on all calls from Truck drivers on the ground pertaining to trucks faults and malfunctions.

Will be responsible for implementing the relevant corrective action(s) and timeous closure of those actions arising from those calls in order to prevent vehicle breakdowns.

Will be responsible for supervision and co-ordination of all activities by external maintenance service providers to ensure quality and professional service rendered to the Company .ie tyres, trailer services etc.

Will be responsible for containing maintenance costs through designing and implementing measures to drive cost down. Will be accountable for maintenance budget.

Will be responsible for producing daily , weekly and monthly reports to management with recommendations for better practices and improved standards.

Will be responsible for vehicle appearance eg washing and cleaning of vehicles to enhance the image and brand of  the company.

Will be responsible for the maintenance workshop including safe keeping of all spares and equipment and its upkeep.

Verifies and monitor vehicle performance by conducting regular test drives to make sure there are no undetected faults on the fleet that could cause breakdowns.

Make sure drivers are adequately trained to properly manage the fleet.
