POSITION INFO:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to effectively manage the University’s Vehicle Pool and to assist Faculties and Departments with the servicing and licensing of dedicated University vehicles

 

 

 

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Process bookings from Staff and Students for utilization of the Pool Vehicles. Check validity of request and drivers license
  • Maintain the ITS Vehicle Booking System and recommend enhancements where necessary
  • Process vehicle usage for each for each vehicle onto the ITS System and balance charges / cost
  • Keep accurate records of each vehicle for Budget and Audit purposes
  • Ensure that Pool Vehicles are properly, and cost effectively maintained and licensed and that they are clean, roadworthy and safe to use at all times.
  • Assist Faculties and Departments with licensing and maintenance of their dedicated vehicles
  • Arrange and Oversee breakdown recovery and towing /transportation of Pool Vehicles that have broken down. Assist Faculties and Departments in this regard.
  • Prepare Vehicle Usage and Replacement statistics and reports.
  • Assist Protection Service Site Controllers with the provision of transport for VIP Visitors and Staff to and from the Airport.
  • Conduct inspection of Pool Vehicles and ensure that Faculties and Departments provide you with inspection reports of their dedicated vehicles
  • Ensure that Log-books are always completed by the drivers
  • Ensure the safe keeping of Pool Vehicle Keys and Log books
  • Ensure the proper utilization of funds being granted to the transport office
  • Ensure that drivers adhered to NMU Pool Management Policy and procedures
  • Draft Pool Vehicle monthly reports

CORE COMPETENCIES

 

  • Have excellent knowledge of the National Road Traffic Act.
  • Have good knowledge Fleet Management
  • Have good knowledge of reading, writing and calculation of financial statements

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

A M+3 in Transport / Logistics Management with 3 – 5 years relevant experience in a similar or related environment. A valid Category B driver’s license is required. PDP will be an added advantage.
