POSITION INFO:

1. Job Summary
• Responsible for conducting regular inspections of the company''s fleet vehicles to ensure
roadworthiness, compliance with safety regulations, and adherence to internal
maintenance standards. This involves reporting faults, assisting in vehicle audits, and
supporting preventive maintenance programs to maximise fleet efficiency and minimise
downtime.

2. Key Performance Areas
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of all company vehicles (cars, trucks,
trailers, etc.).
• Check vehicle documentation (licenses, registration, roadworthy certificates) and ensure
they are up to date.
• Inspect all vehicle accessories and safety equipment. Ensure all present.
• Report defects, damages, and any irregularities to the Fleet Manager Fleet Controller.
• Verify pre-trip and post-trip inspections completed by drivers and ensure accuracy.
• Conduct ad-hoc checks on driver conduct in relation to vehicle usage (e.g., abuse,
overloading, unauthorised use).
• Monitor vehicle cleanliness and general condition.
• Assist in maintaining fleet records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
• Support accident investigations by inspecting damage and collecting relevant vehicle
condition data.
• Ensure vehicles comply with all applicable laws, including National Road Traffic Act
(NRTA).
• Report brake wear, tyre wear, wiper wear and service intervals to support cost control.
• Perform random inspections at various sites, depots and locations where company
vehicles / rentals are stationed.

3. Qualifications
• Matric Certificate
• Code 08/10 driver’s license (Code EC advantageous)
• Must be in possession of license for a minimum of 5 years

4. Experience
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a fleet, transport, or mechanical environment
• Working knowledge of vehicle mechanics and road safety compliance
• Familiarity with traffic legislation and vehicle inspection protocols
• Basic computer literacy (MS Excel, Outlook)
• Must be able to / and be comfortable in operation manual and automatic vehicles
