Fleet Controller- Vaal Depot

SUMMARY:
The purpose of the job is to manage the entire fleet to ensure optimal customer service within the given operational and financial parameters. Lead, manage and supervise the logistical and fleet operational functions for the Vaal depot and provide the required guidance and support to staff.

POSITION INFO:

 

• Ensure the optimal routing of vehicles
• Understanding Waste classification in order to allocate the correct vehicle
• Adhere to Customer and landfill requirement
• Managing all services to ensure that all customer requirements and jobs are executed on accurately and in accordance with the task list.
• Managing all set exchanges and call-ins to ensure all customer calls are executed on time and correctly and jobs are prioritised correctly
• Monitoring and controlling of all vehicles via radio, cell or personal contact to ensure route compliance.
• Logging of all calls on the internal Fleet system and completing all tasks on an ongoing basis to ensure all data correct on daysheet system at all times.
• Ensuring that all vehicles are fit for use, prior to dispatch I.e. In terms of road worthiness and Inter-Waste customer requirements E.g. 6inch hose and/or 6kl tanker.
• Driver compliance with regard to documentation on vehicle inspections, dangerous goods and any other permits and documents.
• Extracting and compiling carryover reports and ensuring the incorporation of such carryovers in future planning or arranging special conditions like overtime in conjunction with the Depot Manager.
• Monitoring and reporting all variances to scheduled tasks including deviations from routes, performance abnormalities seen from interpreting tachographs, performance abnormalities where productivity is questioned
• Arranging alternatives to ensure proper service is rendered including renting of vehicles or staff needed (all external acquisition of resources to be approved by Depot Manager, General Manager or one of the Directors based on your motivation and the relevant signing authorities).
• Ensuring vehicle availability for services, repairs etc. by planning resources to accommodate the resultant overtime.
• Responsible for vehicle productivity – must ensure the required number of trips per unit is done as specified from time to time.
• Ensuring all relevant procedures are followed
• Optimal routing as measured against loads / trucks / day for the specific depot 
• Responsible for all drivers documents that are required for invoices purposes
• Monitor fuel usage
• Adherance to all required legislature
• Strong Conflict, Communication and Organisational Skills
