Fitter Assistant

Our client in the Citrus Sector, based in Kirkwood, is currently looking to employ an experienced Fitter Assistant.

The role of the Fitter Assistant is to react to breakdowns and assist the Fitter with below tasks.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or N3 mechanical qualification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Packhouse mechanical experience/qualification will be an advantage.
• Above average knowledge of tools and usage.
• Must have own transport for stand-by and call-out purposes.
• Good understanding of the workings of a packhouse environment.
• Remain attentive in an often-busy environment.
• Be versatile if participation in other types of activity is required.
• Have self-management, responsibility, communication (verbal/written), multi-tasking, teamwork.

Key Performance Areas and Duties

• Mechanical maintenance: e.g. gearboxes, rollers, shafts, conveyors, belts, lubrication, welding.
• Site/building maintenance: e.g. sewer, water tanks, gutters, lawnmowers, paving, concrete floors.
• Water purification.
• Safety/Fire management.
• Planned maintenance.
• Reports to the Maintenance Manager.
• Work inside a packhouse that is interactive, busy, with multiple of moving vehicles.
• Peak season work, based on shift requirements and will involve overtime.
