Southern Oil Pty Ltd, an established company and market leader in manufacturing Canola oil and related products in the retail, food services, and bulk sectors, has the following exciting career opportunity in Swellendam.

POSITION INFO:

Short Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is the maintenance and preventative maintenance of the plant''s equipment, machinery, and facilities.
This person will be responsible for the team and its activities and ensure all work complies with Industry standards.

Responsibilities:

• Maintenance
  • Maintain plant equipment, for example, pumps, steam lines, pneumatic components, and machinery.
  • Perform plant maintenance during shutdowns period, which is sometimes not within the standard working hours.
  • Ensure the understanding of new drawings and manuals.
  • Install new machines and equipment.
  • This person will need to respond to emergency machine breakdowns throughout the plant.
• Inspections
  • Do regular inspections on plant equipment according to a checklist and a preventive maintenance plan.
• Team Work
  • Give feedback to Senior Engineering Technician and Maintenance Engineer on breakdown root cause analyses.
  • Handle breakdowns during responsible standby period.
  • Manage Artisan Assistant according to HR policies and Disciplinary code of conduct.
• Procedures
  • Perform tasks according to Health and Safety procedures and Food Safety Procedures.
  • Complete the DMS work orders and keep a record of all work completed.
  • Apply for parts by making use of the Requisition Procedure.
  • Follow workshop housekeeping rules and implement a 5s strategy.

Key Competencies:

Education and Experience

• Qualified Trade Certificate
• Code B Driving License
• A minimum of 2 years of plant maintenance experience
• Experience in a food manufacturing environment

Technical Abilities

• Computer literate: Basic computer operating
• Must be able to read technical/ mechanical drawing
• Experience in TIG, MIG, and Arc welding
• Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Good understanding and knowledge of mechanical seals
• Good experience and knowledge of pump maintenance
• Good understanding and knowledge of pneumatic systems
• Good experience and knowledge of steam components and repairments
• Good understanding and knowledge of auger and conveyor systems
