Fitter & Tuner

SUMMARY:
Our well-known client, within Delmas, is looking for a qualified Fitter and Turner to join their team!

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric – Essential.
• Trade Tested Fitter & Turner – Essential.
• Minimum 3 years’ relevant maintenance experience, preferably in an agricultural, livestock or food production environment.
• Valid driver's licence will be an advantage.
• Experience working with farm machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns and emergencies.
• Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors and in demanding farm conditions.

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on farm machinery and equipment.  
• Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns.  
• Repair, replace and maintain bearings, shafts, sprockets, chains, pulleys, gearboxes, pumps and related components.  
• Carry out welding, cutting, drilling, grinding and fabrication where required.  
• Perform alignment and fitting of mechanical components.
• Manufacture or modify parts where required.  
• Maintain and repair conveyors, feeding systems, pumps and other mechanical farm equipment.  
  

• Maintain and repair equipment used in livestock handling and farming operations.  
• Maintain feed systems, water systems, pumps and associated mechanical equipment.  
• Assist with maintenance of cattle handling facilities, gates, crushes, loading facilities and other mechanical structures.  
• Ensure equipment required for daily livestock operations remains operational.  
• Attend to urgent breakdowns that could affect livestock welfare or farm production.  

• Inspect machinery and equipment regularly and identify potential mechanical failures.  
• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance according to maintenance plans.  
• Assist with maintenance of generators, compressors and other supporting equipment where required.  
• Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working condition.  
• Keep the maintenance workshop clean, organised and safe.  

• Cattle/livestock handling equipment.  
• Feed mills and feeding systems.  
• Water pumps and borehole equipment.  
• Conveyors.  
• Gearboxes and drive systems.  
• Generators and compressors.  
• Tractors and agricultural machinery.
