Large Oil & Gas Company, based in Qatar, is looking for Fire Station Officers! Excellent expat opportunity!

POSITION INFO:

Primary Purpose of the Job

  1. Undertake the defined routines in the Fire Station during the shift to ensure operational readiness to respond to incidents.
  2. Respond to incidents and assume the role of Lead Fire Officer until relieved by a more senior officer. 

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Fire Station Routines: Perform the defined routines in theFire Station during the shift encompassing training, exercises, equipment testing, Asset Operator inspections etc. 
  2. PDA Availability: Check the availability and condition of required minimum PDA (Pre-Determined Attendance) encompassing personnel, appliances and equipment at start of shift; call out and coordinate deployment of reinforcements speedily.  
  3. Appliances and Equipment Inspections: Supervise inspections of all appliances, apparatus and equipment. Submit reports on defects for action by Station Commander.
  4. Incident Response: Respond to all incidents and perform role of Lead Fire Officer until relieved by a more senior officer in case of major incidents.
  5. Incident Reporting: Submit reports on all incidents responded and follow up on corrective actions.
  6. Incident Investigation: Support investigation of incidents including providing subject matter expertise.
  7. Emergency Communications Centre Coordination: Coordinate all communication regarding appliances, material and manpower with Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) during the shift. In addition, provide situational updates from the site to the ECC during incidents.
  8. Shift Handover: Prepare and submit shift handover report to the incoming Officer. 

 Decision Making Authority

  • Has authority on all decisions pertaining to incident response whilst performing the role of Lead Fire Officer.
  • Consults with the Fire Station Commander as required.  
  • The incumbent works on shift.
  • Acts as Lead Fire Officer unless relieved by a more senior officer during major incidents.
  • Works in a hostile environment during incident response.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Degree in Fire Protection, Emergency/Disaster Management from a recognized university or Member of Institute of Fire Engineers. Diploma will be considered if supplemented by appropriate professional experience. 
  • At least 5 years working experience as a Fire Station Officer or 10 years in case of Diploma.
  • Experience in industrial fire operations preferred.
  • Strong and effective leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English and preferably Arabic.
