Financial Manager - Table View - R35,000 - R50,000 per month

INTERNATIONAL FREIGHT FORWARDING AND CLEARING Industry

CORE PURPOSE:

Manage the financial function and oversee the financial health of the company. Ensure the accurate financial and tax reporting. Implement, monitor, and improve financial internal control environment. Assisting Directors in making sound financial decisions in the long and short term.

SUMMARISED DUTIES:

• Manage and oversee the daily accounting operations
• Review accuracy of general ledger recons and sign off
• Month-end and financial year-end journals
• Monthly VAT returns and reconciliations
• Annual and bi-annual corporate taxation returns
• Ensure the correct capturing and disclosure of accounts in accordance with international financial reporting standards
• Manage fixed asset register
• Implement and improve internal controls and processes to ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions
• Control expenses in line with budget

Audits

• Plan, manage and oversee the unqualified external audits
• Manage and oversee the quarterly bank audits

Cash and Bank

• Banking systems administration (Local and foreign banks)
• Daily cash management (ensure optimal cash flow) and bi-weekly cash forecasting
• Ensure all payments to parties are conducted as per internal controls and approve EFT payments on a timely basis
• Manage and oversee the debtors factoring processes and facility
• Make improvements to the payments and approval processes
• Obtain explanation and follow up monthly on all unpaid debtors

Reporting

• Compile, review and present monthly management accounts to Directors
• Compile and review tax pack annually (including provisional tax)
• Compile and review external audit pack
• Compile, review and present budgets to Directors annually
• Compile, review and present cashflow forecasts to Directors bi-weekly
• Review and assist with BEE reporting
• Manage POPI compliance
• Manage the Employment Equity compliance and submissions
• Manage the Transport SETA submissions

Ad hoc

• Accounting software administration (Pastel Evolution)
• Monitor the effectiveness of internal controls
• Assist CFO with the payroll duties including EMP and Workmen’s Compensation
• Manage the employee leave administration
• Manage the debtor’s insurance administration
• Manage the customer marine insurance declarations

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Postgraduate qualification in accounting
• 3 years auditing articles experience
• Management experience
• Advantageous:
• Logistics experience
• Experience with pastel evolution

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• IFRS
• South African tax legislation
• Understanding of other relevant legislation e.g. POPI, Companies Act, etc.
• Foreign currency transactions and banking

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to compile and analyse financial information
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Time management skills and ability to multi-task
• Ability to manage a team (including delegating)
• Advanced level of MS Office (Excel, Word, etc)
• Presentation skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Interpersonal skills (ability to operate with all levels of employees)
• Problem solving skills
