Overview:

Montague Gardens based opportunity exists at a company with offices both in South Africa and Namibia. As a Financial Manager you will be required to manage all accounting operations, provide CFO with accurate, timely and relevant financial data, manage month end and year end close process.

Responsibilities:

The Main tasks include the following:

  • Serving as the key financial manager for at least 3 entities. Each entity has different operational and accounting requirements and requires the individual to be a great multi-tasker to enable him/her to deliver their key tasks.
  • Good accounting background required given the dynamic nature of the group which has different accounting requirements/treatments, and the person will be responsible for preparing the necessary month end journals.
  • Full Trial Balance management
  • Verify recorded transactions and report irregularities to management.
  • Reviewing all ledger details to ensure correct posting of transactions, payments, and allocations to specific project codes.
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of payables, including review & management of supplier reconciliations.
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of accounts receivable, including.                            
    • Preparation of invoices for review by CFO
    • Capture of accounts receivable invoices.
    • Performing accounts receivable reconciliations
  • Prepare supporting schedules.
  • Performing reconciliations of accounts (Income statement and Balance sheet)
  • Prepare & capture journals.
  • Capture and reconcile cashbooks.
  • Reviewing & loading payments before release
  • Forex payment processing via current bank account and/or Forex company.
  • Supervising a team of at least 2/3 persons – Senior Bookkeepers, Bookkeepers
  • Ensuring timeous completion of month end procedures by the team, which include:
    • Cashbook processing
    • Invoice processing – accounts payable
    • Customer Invoice processing
    • Supplier and Debtor reconciliations completed and reviewed.
    • Month end journals which include accruals and prepayments
    • Preparation of individual entity management accounts within reporting deadlines
    • Providing commentary and analysis of month-on-month movements.
    • Maintenance of fixed asset registers.
  • Facilitate the annual audit and preparation of schedules and reconciliations.
  • Implement and maintain the finance policies and processes.
  • Prepare and submit applicable regulatory returns.
  • VAT reconciliation preparation and submission of VAT returns for SA entities (currently five entities)
  • Correspondence with SARS relating to taxation matters involving the Group, including Verification & Audits.
  • Prepare income tax and provisional tax calculations and returns.
  • Ensure financial record systems are in accordance with IFRS.
  • Coordinate all audit activities, liaise with external auditors regarding fieldwork.
  • Processing weekly and monthly payroll, including:
    • Preparation and submission of EMP201s and EMP501s
    • PAYE, UIF, SDL submissions & payments
    • Workmen’s Compensation compliance
    • IRP5 and IT3 submissions and reports
  • Customs payments
  • Assist in additional finance related functions when required.
  • Ensure proper administration and organisation of documentation.

The minimum requirements are as follows:

  • Min of a BCom/CIMA qualification and 4-5 years’ experience as a FM in a similar position

  • Experience with Pastel Evolution
  • Excellent computer literacy (Excel)
  • Sound understanding of VAT and income tax requirements.
