Financial Controller

SUMMARY:
This is a high‑impact Financial Controller role within a purpose‑driven organisation where finance truly matters.
In this role, you will be reporting directly to the CFO, you will own financial integrity, controls, and reporting across the full operation. This is best suited to a resilient, hands‑on finance leader who thrives in a demanding, dynamic environment.

POSITION INFO:

Oversee the full finance function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity
Prepare monthly journals, general ledger reconciliations, and management accounts
Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management and the board
Perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, highlighting risks and opportunities
Manage cash flow, prepare rolling forecasts, and ensure all obligations are met
Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate monthly depreciation
Oversee accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely collections and payments
Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with management
Ensure compliance with SARS, including VAT, EMP201, UIF, and statutory submissions
Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and manage audit deliverables
Oversee grant and donor fund reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements
Lead and manage a small finance team, providing guidance, review, and support
 
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years financial accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a management role
Strong experience with reconciliations, monthly reporting, and financial controls
Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and board‑level reporting
Experience within an NPO, donor‑funded, or highly regulated environment -advantageous
Proficiency in accounting systems such as Sage, SAP, or Business Central
Strong leadership, resilience, and ability to perform under pressure
 
Qualification:
Diploma OR BCom Degree in Finance or Accounting OR Equivalent
