Financial Analyst

Job purpose description*

A critical role for CIB Finance, leading a team that will provide the business unit (BU) CFO and the BU stakeholders with financial analysis and intelligence, financial information and reporting to support decision-making in order to achieve its strategy. This role is accountable overall for financial information and analytics delivered to the business through the BU CFO to support decision making and to drive a client centric approach to business performance management. A key accountability is the delivery of timely, accurate and relevant management reporting augmented with value adding insights on business performance, trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.  The information delivered to the BU will be across the multiple dimensions of CIB: product, country, region, franchise, sector and client and legal entity. The role will also be responsible for delivery of robust plans and forecasts by the business. The role has a significant strategic element with responsibility for ensuring that business unit has an adequate level of strategic planning to underpin their 4 year plans. The role will be a central one in providing constructive challenge and influence to the BU around business performance, spanning revenue, (between R10-15 billion) and balance sheet (R150-300 billion), ‘run the bank’ costs and ‘change the bank’ investments. The role will also drive tightly-governed change governance with regards to management information and is accountable for driving consistent, standardised and efficient processes. Through the ownership of business planning and through delivery of relevant information, this role will be a critical enabler of towards the client centric strategy for the BU.

The role will be expected to develop strong relationships with key BU stakeholders as the role will be support the BU CFO in terms of strategy, planning and information delivery. 

The role should remain current with the latest thinking and practices across enterprise intelligence, business intelligence, banking and other sectors. The role will be responsible for sourcing and providing Thought Leadership around management reporting, analytics, planning and profitability analysis.
