Financial Accountant

POSITION INFO:

Prepare monthly management accounts and annual financial statements
Maintain accurate financial reporting and general ledger integrity
Perform monthly journals, reconciliations, and month‑end close activities
Manage cashbooks and perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Analyse financial data and provide insights to support business decisions
Ensure compliance with applicable financial, tax, and statutory regulations
Assist with internal and external audits and provide supporting documentation
Work with accounting and ERP systems to ensure accurate transaction processing.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support operational and strategic initiatives
Ensure adherence to IFRS for SMEs and South African tax legislation
Support statutory submissions including VAT, PAYE, SDL, UIF, and related reporting
Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness.
Assist with payroll processing and payroll-related reporting where required
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of payroll and employee financial data.
Minimum 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience in a full-function accounting role
Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance
Proven experience preparing financial statements and management accounts
Practical experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems
Exposure to fintech, payments, financial services, or fuel retail environments
Experience with mid-tier ERP systems and payroll platforms
Familiarity with foreign currency transactions and multinational reporting
Exposure to SOX compliance or listed group environments
Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools
High levels of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
 
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5 years + of accounting experience
Proven expertise in preparing financial statements and overseeing accurate financial reporting
Strong analytical capability, supported by a solid understanding of core financial principles
High level of proficiency in accounting software and financial tools
Exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to regulatory compliance

Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
Professional certification such as CA, CPA, or ACCA is a plus
