SUMMARY:
Factory Foreman required for a client based in Germiston

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements:

Production planning and managing resources:
Consider and plan daily machine production in line with Orders and as advised by Customer Service or Operations Manager.
Daily updating of the production planning system.
Draft weekly Operator work rosters to ensure fair and consistent rostering of staff to production requirements.
Ensure timely placing of raw material requests on the Warehouse.
Sign off all raw material transferred from Warehouse to Factory.
Advise management when the Factory does not have the raw material.

Information and reporting:

Ensure that each Operator completes an accurate and detailed daily production schedule.
Daily capturing of information from production sheets onto daily Production report.
Report all machine breakdowns to the Senior Maintenance Technician as soon as they occur.
Advise senior management of breakdowns as soon as these occur.
Ensure that all boxes are properly packed and labeled before transferring as finished goods.
Transfer all finished goods to stores. Sign off required documentation.
Work with the Quality Inspector to ensure that all products are produced to identified quality standards.

Health & safety:

Housekeeping. Ensure that the Factory is clean, safe, and healthy at all times. Work with H & S representatives and ensure unsafe practices are reported and rectified.
Enforce all Health and Safety requirements.
Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is worn.

Supervising the team:

Manage Operators for optimal production, moving operators to ensure full output per operator each day.
Daily management of Operators in terms of efficiency and workload.
Hold a morning production meeting with the Factory team (reinforce H & S, performance goals, housekeeping, disciplinary procedure).
Cross skill Operators such that there is maximum flexibility in the use of Operators.
Train Operators in all aspects of their jobs.
Identify, draft, and implement Standing Orders and Procedures for each machine, in consultation with HR and Maintenance Technician.
Implement any new procedures as laid down by management.
Manage daily timekeeping and absenteeism with team members.
Manage and advise Human Resources of timekeeping (including start time, tea, lunch breaks, and wondering around) and absenteeism issues with team members.
Supervise that the team are well disciplined and perform to requirements.
Consult Human Resources on any matters requiring performance counseling or disciplinary action.
Hear and answer all employee problems. Consult Human Resources to get answers for staff.
Hear any grievances reported by staff.
