Finance Manager – R40k/month – Cape Town (S/Subs) – Perm – Start asap – Open to all

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our well-established client in Cape Town is looking for a strong Finance Manager who works well under pressure to join their team.  This is a newly created role in the finance department for a leader to take the department forward and   to implement and fully manage the current operations and systems in place.

You will work alongside the CFO and COO in order to create, monitor and   sustain policies and procedures within the financial and broader administrative function.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

 

Finance:

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting
  • Perform financial analysis, reporting and management activities
  • Ensure that the financial reports are prepared and delivered on time
  • Review financial data for accuracy and completeness
  • Generate financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses, etc.
  • Oversee the overall corporate budgeting preparation, financial management and financial monitoring processes.
  • Actively monitoring and managing budgets against actuals
  • Communicates data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Your communications drive critical business actions

Human Resources

  • Management of HR function for completeness and accuracy by implementing checks and controls proactively to limit potential staff payroll related queries
  • Responsible for the disciplinary process and recording of warnings for the company assisted by the HR clerk
  • Including organising hearings with labour consultant
  • Recording of the disciplinary process in both the legal and payroll systems
  • Ensure accurate calculation and distribution of salaries, wages, and other benefits to employees.
  • Perform weekly and monthly imports from the time and attendance system on to the PaySpace Payroll system and prepare the banking EFT files for import by the CFO.
  • Including control checks to ensure all staff hours have been recorded and why any staff have short hours (unpaid sick etc)
  • Recording of all payroll information journals onto the accounting platform
  • Complete and manage the staff loans, schedules, and reconciliations
  • Complete the provident fund import file and reconciliation to the accounting system every month. Any discrepancies are to be followed up, corrected, and raised to management
  • Responsible to obtain information and alert the broker or the provident fund of any changes/updates to the provident fund for new or exiting members
  • Collate, produce, and review the EMP201 with supporting documentation for the CFO to upload onto SARS each month
  • Responsible for the maintenance, garnishees, and union fee deductions for the staff. This includes the deductions, recording thereof in the financial systems and preparing the payment file for payment each month.
  • Responsible for the HR data and systems including scanning of sick certificates, COVID vaccinations, contracts to ensure digital access of information.

 

 

Legal and regulatory

  • Comply with and keeping up to date with all the relevant tax laws & regulations and finance and finance related regulations, guidelines, and codes of best practice.

 

Systems & Procedures

  • Develop standard and new accounting procedures to improve financial operations efficiency.
  • Manage financial systems/models and HR systems.

 

Audit

  • Liaise with auditors in relation to preparing for annual general audit
  • Prepare the financial system for the external annual audit.
  • Make sure annual financial statements are prepared and are appropriate before submission to the CFO for ratification.
  • Together with the auditors ensure that the CFO and Board of Directors ratify annual financial statements

 

Minimum – Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience in QuickBooks Accounting and PaySpace Payroll system would be an advantage.
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication and influencing skills
  • Relevant / Professional finance qualification
  • Experience and applied knowledge of accounting and/or financial concepts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and particularly Excel
  • Be good at keeping the peace and manage conflict in the company.
  • Experience in following and maintaining workplace privacy.
  • Must be well-organised and have excellent time-management skills.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations (desirable)
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high diligence on large volume transactions
  • Understand process improvement methodology and how to implement process controls and maintain financial controls through change.
  • Ability to manipulate and analyse large volumes of numerical data accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills, adapting style and content for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work on a range of project deliverables simultaneously and flexibility to change workplan if new higher priorities are identified and required to meet a project go-live timing
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues
